FORTUNA is situated in the award-winning and tranquil Jubilee Park, designed by international landscape architect, Jacques Wirtz. At five metres high, it is Blumenfeld’s most ambitious work to date in a career that spans over 50 years. The work in patinated bronze is inspired by the eponymous Roman goddess of destiny and evokes the fullness and complexity of the human condition.
400 x 150 x 75 cmFLAME was commissioned by the City of Pietrasanta in recognition of Blumenfeld’s strong attachment to the city, its artists and artisans, after having been the first woman to be awarded the pretigious international sculpture prize “Pietrasanta e la Versilia nel Mondo” in 2007. FLAME was installed in the centre of the city in via Oberdan and was unveiled in a gala ceremony Saturday 11 April 2015.
